The Cour du Foyer, the cradle of copper production in Villedieu, is one of the town's most typical workshop courtyards. Here, in the Middle Ages, brass plates and copper needed for the town's workshops were obtained in the "Foyer". Through the different rooms, you will discover the stages of copper processing, from the hearth to the workshop, up to the finished products, presented in the exhibition.

The museum's collection is a real tribute to the lacemaking of yesteryear, with beautiful laces from Villedieu and elsewhere. An "educational" demonstration of bobbin lace is offered at the end of your visit. The exchange with the lacemaker will allow you to understand the subtleties of this delicate confection. Today, this know-how has its place among the "handmade in Villedieu" objects offered in the shop. From the loom to the spindles, discover the specific equipment for making lace, and let yourself be surprised by the complexity of this art! Torchon, Cluny, Chantilly, Valenciennes: each lace has its own stitches, patterns and materials...

The museum also presents typical copper working objects as well as unique contemporary pieces. The visit brings back to life the meticulous gestures of the craftsmen of the past and of today through a video room, the reconstitution of the workshop of a coppersmith and two exhibition rooms spread over two levels.
